Bespoke media walls designed around your room, built in our own London workshop, installed by one dedicated team.
The media wall has replaced the mantelpiece as the focal point of the modern living room. A well-designed tv media wall frames the television, houses an electric fire, hides every cable, and adds the storage a London living room never has enough of. A poorly designed one dominates the room for all the wrong reasons.
Noba & Stod designs and builds bespoke media wall units to the millimetre. Every panel is made in our own London workshop, finished in our spray booth, and installed by the same team that built it, so you have a single point of contact from first survey to final fix.
Noba & Stod provides bespoke media wall design and installation across London. Fireplace recesses, panelling, integrated storage and full cable management, built from premium carcass materials, such as birch plywood, with high-quality soft-close hardware and spray-painted finishes. Fitted media walls start from £2,500 excl VAT, with free design consultations and typical lead times of 4-8 weeks.

Media Walls with Fireplace Installation
A media wall with fireplace installation is our most requested design. We build the surround, recess and hearth line around your chosen electric fire, which is supplied separately and connected by a qualified electrician. Inset fires sit flush within the joinery with the correct clearances and ventilation, so the finished wall looks architectural rather than added on. We coordinate the electrical work within the installation schedule, so the fire, the TV and the lighting are all live before we hand over.

Panelled Media Wall Designs
Media wall panelling turns a plain TV wall into a piece of architecture. Fluted and slatted timber, Shaker-style framing, flat contemporary slabs, or full-height wall panelling that continues beyond the unit itself. Panels are spray-finished in any colour in our workshop, and every junction is shaped to follow the contours of your walls, with no gaps and no filler strips.

Built-In Media Units with Storage
A built in media unit should earn its wall space. We integrate closed cabinets for consoles and routers, open shelving for books and objects, drawers for remotes and chargers, and alcove units either side of a chimney breast. A media wall with storage replaces two or three pieces of freestanding furniture and makes the whole room feel calmer and more considered.

TV & Cable Management
The television sits in a recess sized around your exact screen, with concealed fixings, ventilation gaps and cable routes built into the carcass. Soundbars, set-top boxes and games consoles get their own ventilated compartments, and every cable runs inside the joinery to a hidden service hatch. The result is a wall with a single visible object on it, the screen.
What Is a Bespoke Media Wall?
A media wall is a purpose-built wall of joinery that frames the television and, in most designs, an electric fireplace, combining panelling, lighting and storage in one architectural piece. There are three routes to getting one: a pre-built unit from a retailer, a plasterboard stud wall built on site, or a fully bespoke joinery media wall designed, workshop-built and installed by a specialist.
We build the third kind. A bespoke media wall is made to the millimetre for your room, your screen size and your storage list, rather than adapted from a standard module. Because the carcasses are built in our workshop rather than on site, tolerances are tighter, finishes are sprayed rather than brushed, and the on-site installation is faster and cleaner. It is the same approach we take across all our bespoke joinery in London.
If you are still gathering ideas, our guide to media wall ideas and costs covers layouts, materials and detailed price breakdowns. This page covers the service itself: what we build, how we install it, and what it costs.
Media Wall Designs We Build
Every design starts with your room, your screen and what you need the wall to hold. These are the configurations our media wall fitters build most often across London.
Fireplace Media Walls
An inset electric fire below or beside the recessed TV, framed by panelling and a shadow-gap reveal. The fire is supplied separately and wired by a qualified electrician, while we build every clearance, vent and recess around its exact specification.
Best for: Living rooms, open-plan extensions, new-build apartments.
Panelled TV Media Walls
Fluted, slatted or Shaker-style panelling that wraps the screen and continues across the wall. A clean way to give a rented-looking room permanent character, sprayed in any colour to match or contrast your walls.
Best for: Contemporary interiors, feature walls, snugs.
Full-Wall Media Units
Floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall cabinetry with the TV and fire at the centre and storage everywhere else. Closed cupboards below, open shelving above, integrated LED lighting throughout. One unified run of joinery, corner to corner.
Best for: Family living rooms, basement cinema rooms, large receptions.
Floating Media Walls
A wall-hung console below the screen with no legs and no visible fixings, often paired with a panelled backdrop and LED underlighting. Minimal footprint, maximum effect, with all cabling concealed inside the joinery.
Best for: Minimalist interiors, smaller rooms, apartments.
Period Home Media Walls
Media walls designed around chimney breasts and alcoves in Victorian and Edwardian houses. We match skirting and cornice profiles and shape every panel to follow the irregular walls of period properties, so the joinery looks original to the house. See our alcove cupboards & shelving guide.
Best for: Victorian terraces, Edwardian homes, conservation areas.
Media Walls for Open-Plan Rooms
Double-sided and room-dividing media walls that zone an open-plan space, with the TV and fire on the living side and shelving or a desk return on the other. A joinery alternative to building a partition wall.
Best for: Open-plan extensions, loft apartments, broken-plan layouts.
Materials & Finishes
A media wall carries real weight and real heat: a large screen, an electric fire, shelves full of books. The construction underneath matters as much as the finish. You can read more about how we specify materials on our materials page.
Carcass Materials
We build media wall carcasses from premium carcass materials, such as birch plywood, specified to suit your design and budget. Around the fire recess we follow the fire manufacturer’s clearance and ventilation requirements exactly, so the joinery stays stable and safe for decades of use.
Panel & Door Finishes
Spray-painted MDF in any colour, oak or walnut veneers, natural hardwood, fluted and slatted timber panelling, and textured or fabric-inset panels for cinema rooms. All finishing happens in our own spray booth, not on site, for a harder and smoother surface.
Metalwork & Detailing
For a more premium specification we offer integrated metalwork: brass inlays and trims, metal-framed doors with glass or mesh panels, and antique-brass shelf supports. These details lift a media wall from fitted furniture to genuine cabinetry.
Hardware & Lighting
Every hinge, drawer runner and pull-out uses high-quality soft-close hardware, with push-to-open fronts where you want a handleless look. Integrated LED strips light shelving and the panelling reveal, wired to a hidden driver with dimmable control.
How Does Media Wall Installation Work?
Free Home Survey
We visit your home, measure the wall, and check the things that decide a media wall design: wall construction, socket and aerial positions, chimney breasts, and the TV and fire models you have in mind. No obligation.
Design & Quote
Detailed drawings showing the elevation, the TV and fire recesses, internal storage and material specification, with an itemised quote and no hidden costs. We revise until the design is exactly right.
Workshop Build
Your media wall is CNC-cut, hand-assembled and spray-finished in our own London workshop. Building off site means tighter tolerances, better finishes and far less dust and disruption in your home.
Installation
Pre-finished units arrive and are installed by the team that built them. Panels are shaped to follow the contours of your walls, cables are routed and concealed, and the electric fire is connected by a qualified electrician. Most installations complete in 2-5 days.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does media wall installation take?
Most media wall installations take 2 to 5 days on site once the joinery has been built in our workshop. The full journey from design approval to finished wall is typically 4-8 weeks, including the workshop build and spray finishing.
Do you install the electric fire?
We build the recess and surround around your chosen electric fire, which is supplied separately and connected by a qualified electrician. We coordinate the electrical work within the installation schedule so the fire is ready to use at handover.
Can you build a media wall around my TV size?
Yes. We design the recess around your exact television model, from 43 inch screens to 85 inch and larger, with ventilation, concealed fixings and cable routes sized to suit. If you plan to upgrade the screen later, we can size the recess for the next size up.
Do I need planning permission for a media wall?
No. A media wall is internal joinery, so planning permission is not required. If you live in a leasehold flat, your lease may require freeholder consent for works that alter electrics, and we can advise on this during the survey.
How much does a media wall cost?
A fitted media wall with a fire recess and panelling typically costs £2,500-£5,000, and a fully bespoke joinery media wall with storage in London costs £4,000-£10,000+. Prices are a guide and exclude VAT. See our media wall cost guide for full breakdowns.
Do you install media walls outside London?
Our core service area is Greater London, and we regularly take on larger projects across the Home Counties, including Surrey, Hertfordshire and Essex. If you are outside London, send us your postcode and a photo of the wall and we will confirm availability.
